3 Tips For Caring For Your Veneers

This article is going to discuss 3 important tips for caring for your dental veneers.

Wear Mouth Protection During Sports

Because your porcelain veneers were likely an investment for you, it is important that you protect your investment. This is going to be especially true when it comes to being involved in different activities and sports that could harm them. For example, if you are playing a game of baseball, a hit to the mouth could destroy your veneers, and is likely going to be incredibly expensive for you to repair and/or replace. Rather than worrying about whether or not your teeth are going to make it through the game, you should consider getting a mouth guard, or some other type of mouth protection that you can wear when you are playing sports. This is going to allow you to focus on playing the game, rather than worrying so much about your mouth, which is likely going to make sports more fun for you and help you to focus more on improving.

Only Chew On Food

If you have a habit of chewing on items that are not food, then you are going to want to stop this habit as soon as possible. By chewing on things such as pen lids, you are going to be using your teeth unnecessarily. Also, because these items are going to be quite hard, they are likely going to cause damage to your teeth overtime. Rather than chewing on items of this nature, instead chew gum or some other actual food item that teeth are meant to break down. This is going to reduce the risk of damaging your veneers, and is likely going to keep them looking better for a much longer period of time.

Avoid Staining Foods And Drinks

When you first get your veneers, you are going to be able to choose what color you would like them to be. However, just as with your normal teeth, they are going to be prone to staining. Because of this, you should avoid eating or drinking foods that could potentially stain your teeth. These things generally include dark colored drinks, such as coffee or soda, and food that contain dyes in them. Avoiding these foods and drinks, or eating and drinking them in a way where the don't touch your veneers, is going to be the best way to keep your veneers beautiful and white.
